Jyrki Vainonen is a writer and the chair of the Finnish Writer's Union. As a writer he has published four novels, three collections of short stories, two books of essays, and three radio-plays. Since 1995 he has been a translator as well, from English into Finnish. His work as a translator includes poetry by Seamus Heaney, Paul Muldoon, and Thomas Kinsella. Also A Tale of a Tub and the Battle of Books by Swift, as well as a selection of his Irish pamphlets. And A Winter's Tale by Shakespeare.
